Music directors
Conductors
For every choir to find the right conductor is the most difficult but also the most important issue.
A good director makes or breaks the choir. A very good musical background and a professional schooling in this field are the minimum requirements. But also, the possibility to keep a good discipline in the choir is essential which sometimes can lead to harsh decisions as the quality of the choir is the only priority.
And then also the conductor must like the music the choir has chosen as their style.
Everyone who is occupied with a choir knows this.
We have been lucky to have found the perfect conductor for the stage the choir was in.
In the beginning when the choir had 25 members and was a university choir we worked with Ruslan Bondar, who was already related to the university the girls were studying.
It made a good start possible as everyone was used to work with him and the Melody Girls only made it better by their choice of songs.
A few concerts were given under his leadership and with great success.
When the concept of the Melody Girls changed and the choir was brought back to 12 girls, it became time to change the conductor and put more accent on the technality of the choir.
Also here we were very happy to find the right person: Katya Davydova. A highly trained conductor with strong ambition in the technical aspects and in discipline. The 12 girls really had to take it very serious with often 2 or 3 rehearsals per week.
It became now an amateur choir with professional attitude on a professional level.
With Katya the choir made a trip to England and Holland and played together in joined concerts with a big male choir and a quintet.
The ambitions of Katya were different than we could give her at that moment and it was decided to bring in a pause as covid was already a factor. After covid there was a short return to 25 girls under the conductorship of Ruslan Bondar again but it stopped after two studio songs.
The war changed everything and only in the spring of 2023 it was decided that the Melody Girls ( 12 girls) would continue; in spite of the war.
To find a conductor was now even more difficult as many conductors had left the country because of the war.
We decided to change our way of working and introduced a director / senior conductor together with a junior conductor. As in the mean time the girls became more professional, only the best would do.
Director / senior conductor: Not yet definately accepted ( April 2023)
The junior conductor: Not yet definately accepted ( April 2023)
We have now an unique team and with this team we build the Melody Girls further to a professional choir in its sort and have now so much music quality amidst us that we can make any musical combination we want to make.
We are ready to show it to everyone who wants to see and hear it.
